Mark was born in Uganda, May of 1940 to a father who was talented in art. He used to watch him as he drew pictures. In school, art was his best subject. Once he completed his education at Mary's College Kisubi, his art teacher, Mr. Kipling advised him to join the Margaret Trowell School of Fine Art in Makerere. It was during this time that he was introduced to batik making as a method subject. He completed the course and than attended Old Kampala Senior Secondary School where he taught batik making along with other art forms for over 10 years. He resigned from teaching in 1977 and became a full time artist concentrating on batiks.
His works depicted life around him; the villages markets and people engaging in everyday activities. He uses many colors, because he feels that the more colors there are the better it makes him feel. He has exhibited both in one man shows as well as joint exhibitions at Nommo Gallery in Kampala, Gallery Watatu in Kenya and Common Wealth Shows in London.
